Alaska glacier elopement.
What could say Alaska elopement more than a glacier? Many have opted for adventure over more traditional style to experience this kind of raw beauty around them as they say I do. While I’ll be the first to say I love a beautiful table scape or floral draped alter, there is something special about the intimacy of nature as is and just the two of you.
Our couple decided to replicate just such an occasion for their 10th wedding anniversary. We went to Matanuska Glacier in early Alaska spring. I’ll admit I felt nervous as we made the 2.5 hour drive from Anchorage in the pouring snow and fog. Would we even see the glacier? But then I reminded myself of something I’ve learned from the past 8 years of shooting here-embrace whatever the conditions bring you (usually it’s better than what you could have planned.) As our tour began, it was admittedly low visibility. We started at a rarely opened ice cave that itself would have been more than stunning enough. As we carried on suddenly the fog cleared and we were in awe at what lay around us. The only complaint I could have had in the end was wishing I could shoot for hours and hours more.
